Half way into this page you’re going to realize that I’m a little bit of a jerk, with a one-track mind, hell-bent on my own personal satisfaction of making people money. By the time you get to the bottom of the page, you’re not going to care, because you are going to unlock the cash jackpot that you always knew the internet could be. Dear Internet Marketer, Where there is money… there are outstretched begging hands. “Of late, the entire U.S. Economy has been weighed down by a massive over-supply of look-alike, do-alike, painfully ordinary businesses doing ordinary things in ordinary ways,” Dan Kennedy "Change Your Definition of Marketing" from Entrepreneur.com Only a few years ago, there was so much money floating around in the housing market, that anyone who could mimick Vanna White’s patented display gesture became a real estate agent. Construction companies were booming. Skilled labor suddenly became a career in demand. Every writer in the world was either ghostwriting or personally penning how-to’s on real estate investing, real estate loans, flipping real estate, etc. Even I was overloaded with the task of creating content for websites, ebooks, fliers and everything else in between for all those new real estate agents, retired agents coming out of hiding and overloaded real estate brokers Real estate gurus emerged from the swamps of opportunity. HGTV’s ratings exploded. It was as if someone was shouting from a bullhorn, “Someone’s dumbing 6 trillion in cash off the empire state building and you have to get there before it’s gone.” Even banks began to relax their lending policies and then… … as in any storm… The roof got overloaded with the weight of the flood and came crashing down. And it’s happening again. Thanks to job loss or the misguided decision to quit working during the lucrative days of the recent housing boom, there has been an influx of internet marketers and online opportunity seekers. The market place has gotten crowded and the labor market is as competitive as ever. Jumping on the bandwagon is a part of human nature. In business, it’s a terrible epidemic. As more people lose their jobs, the pool of aspiring entrepreneurs will spill over into a flood of copycats. I’ve already started to notice and increase in email after email, call after call asking me if I could mimic this copywriter or that copywriter to sell a product that 1,000 other people were already selling. If 1,000 other people are already selling the same product, I’m wondering why anyone else would even consider that an opportunity. I understand the necessity to fit in and to be like everyone else when it comes to social interaction, but being a chameleon in the business world puts you at a disadvantage. Chameleons blend in to their surroundings so that they can’t be seen. It’s a mechanism designed for protection. Don’t you want to be seen? Or do you want to protect yourself from profits? The roof is about to cave in again…The housing bubble isn’t the first time this has happened. Look at what happens in the music industry when they find something new, fresh and that makes money. They saturate the market with like products and the public quickly tires of it. Look at the internet explosion at the turn of the century. It’s inevitable. And if you think creating another Forex landing page is going to make you money, when there are 38,000 other pages out there that the prospect has already skimmed through, think again. 2010 is going to be the year that the copycats are eaten up by the real top dogs. The saturation will reach unsustainable levels and those without a solid foundation will come crashing down… right back into a cubicle, the unemployment line, or the government assistance program. Landing pages are still extremely important internet business tool. In order to make yours relevant, you have to get back to the basics of marketing.
The Lure of Internet Marketing is the Promise of Making Money While You Sleep… Believe it or Not… It’s Possible…
Your site can run on autopilot and make you money while you sleep. It is possible, but not without you putting in the preliminary work. Offer a product that people want and they will buy like McDonald’s McGriddles. Establish that you are the person they should buy from and they will become loyal future customers and advocates for your brand Generate a full-time income with part-time effort. It only takes you putting the right pieces in the right places in the beginning and the puzzle turns out beautifully. You put in the initial efforts necessary and your site begins to work for you. Build your reputation from the start and the urban legends about your product offerings will grow without you having to work as hard. After Writing a Zillion of These Landing Pages, Monitoring Some of them and Noting What Works and Does Not Work, I’ve Learned that the Fundamentals of Salesmanship Still Apply I’ve been doing this for so long that I actually wore myself out last year and had to take a break. I realized that the reason I was so tired was that I was spending so much time re-educating people, that I was spending less time doing what I do best, making sales. When I was a just a sales guy in the corporate world, I used to get in trouble for not following the agreed upon procedures for sales. My sales weren’t always in the top, but they were always solid. My customers didn’t return or cancel. They weren’t bullied into it like some of the top sellers. I’ve worked for some major names, American Express, Wells Fargo, Home Depot and so on. Some bottled me up to protect company brand. I’m not a brand guy. The only brand I can represent is my own. I have worked sales management for companies that allowed me to spread my wings and develop the talents that were best suited for me. I don’t look like a sales guy. I don’t like suits and ties. I had major obstacles facing me as far as people’s perceptions, so I had to be sharp with my words. And I’m putting that same talent to work on your behalf The Message of “Following in the Footsteps of those that have been Successful” Gets Lost in Our Need to Imitate… To follow the success of someone else is to understand why what he did worked or didn’t work. New clients would come to me and ask if I’d heard of “Joe Blow” internet marketing guru. Then, they’d request that I do what “Joe Blow” marketing guru suggests that they do to make millions the same way he did. Every week, there was something new to try. And all the new clients that came to me last year, with very few exceptions wanted to implement this week’s hottest marketing trend without fully understanding what it would take to implement ths strategy and what to expect from this strategy. All they knew is that “Joe Blow” said it would work. AAAAaaaaggggh! (Pulling out fistfulls of hair). Don’t you realize that Joe Blow makes his millions by selling you his theories on marketing and charging you an arm and a leg for attending his seminars? But Joe Blow is right. You should do what he has done. Joe Blow followed the basics. He found a sizzling hot market, created a product for that market that people wanted, he made contact with people, he established himself as an authority on the topic, kept in contact with those people, then made them the product offer. They couldn’t refuse because they already believed Joe Blow knew what he’s talking about. You wouldn’t believe how many of these Joe Blows have never done any of the things they are telling you that they were doing.
